A U.S. TV station was hit by cyber attack, its website, phone and App are offline
US television giant and satellite radio provider Dish Network has mysteriously gone offline over the past 24 hours, with its website and app ceased to function.
The widespread outage affected Dish.com, the Dish Anywhere app, and several websites and networks owned by the company. The company’s call center was also unavailable.
Additionally, customers faced authentication issues when logging into TV channel apps like MTV and Starz with their Dish credentials. Dish Network’s remote employees have also been banned from accessing their work systems.
A year into the Russia-Ukraine conflict, pro-Ukraine hacking group CH01 hacks dozens of Russian websites
On the one-year anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the pro-Ukraine hacking group CH01 hacked at least 32 Russian websites in protest of the war, the news spread quickly via Anonymous’ social media, Security Affairs revealed.
After successfully hacking a Russian website, the CH01 hacking group uploaded a video showing the Kremlin “burning” on the compromised site. It’s worth mentioning that it’s unclear how the group compromised Russian websites.
In addition, CH01 wrote on its Twitter, “The oracle says that all evil will disappear and all good will remain forever. We are CH01 hacker group, representing all free worlds.
Stanford University suffers another data breach after two years
According to BleepingComputer news on February 24, Stanford University in the United States was exposed to a data breach between December 2022 and January 2023, involving 897 graduate students who were applying for doctoral degrees.
In an email sent to the students, the school said it was notified on January 24, 2023 that their PhD application files for economics could be accessed in an unauthorized manner due to a misconfigured folder setting.
The Stanford investigation found that the data breach began as early as December 5, 2022, and there were two download records between December 5, 2022 and January 24, 2023. The data involved students’ application forms and accompanying materials, including name, gender, date of birth, home and mailing address, phone number, email address, race and citizenship status information. In addition to the above information, personal health information, social security numbers and financial data in the application materials were not exposed because the leaked application documents did not contain such data.
